Guys , whoever is interviewing and planning to join , do ask project availablity on priority basis before you take decision. On Java front looks like there is some project issue due to recent slowdown in market. My offer was not revised even after agreement with recruiter because of this.

The comparatively small number of potential clients, especially for high rate cards, make the market very relationship dependent and inhibits innovation and out of the box thinking. This creates an over-indexing on soft skills and relationship building relative to getting to the objectively “right” answer.
Whether you get the WLB benefits depend on what kind of consulting you do. For MBB and T2 there will be no difference from US or EU.
Moved to AUS from the US
1) It is really far away. Minimum 4-hour flight to use your passport for NZ. SYD-LAX is like ~15 hours, so getting to the east coast is almost 24-hours of travel. So it eats up a lot of your 4 weeks of annual leave.
2) Cost-of-living is a lot higher than I expected, and it’s mostly because of housing costs. I’m in Melbourne, but even small houses here are over $1M. Sydney is even more expensive. And having taken a pay cut moving from the US, it’s extra daunting. Also, buying a house is a totally different process with auctions, variable rate mortgages, and stamp duty.
3) Assuming you are eligible for Medicare and are not dependent on bulk billing, the Australian healthcare system is way more accessible and way less out of pocket. You can get a new patient appointment within a week and can easily get last minute appointments. And if you go to an emergency room at a public hospital, you will never see a bill.
4) eCommerce here is like going back a decade. Amazon AU’s selection is a fraction of the US store, very little is a 2-day Prime delivery window, and everyone else’s websites suck and shipping times take at least a week. It’s really rough if you need something specific last-minute since you won’t necessarily find what you need in store.
5) Every company in Australia is part of an oligopoly. There are 2 supermarkets, 3 telcos, 4 banks, etc. For consulting & strategy, there is very little variety between clients and actual innovation since they are all dinosaurs very comfortable in their market position. Also, your clients will stop working around 5/5:30, and the consultants are being paid to pick up the slack.
Pretty accurate imo
From USA to ANZ? Be ready to take massive pay cut, less opportunities and higher cost of living. At the same time, better WLB, better weather and beautiful beaches, though they do get boring after a while.
NZ is so far away from everything. Apart from travelling at least 10 hours to reach Singapore from where you’ve better connectivity to anywhere else, services are expensive here. Other than these 2 aspects, I’d say you get better WLB, better healthcare infrastructure and education (if you’ve got kids). Travelling within the country is great and you got a lot of communities to explore different stuffs like water sports, mountain climbing, rugby, cricket etc. you can get your private pilot license in a matter of months. Spacious homes. If you’re from the tropics, you’ll find the weather cold all year around. And yes, you will take a pay cut to move here and it is very relationship centric.
It's f*cking enormous. How you'll fare depends on where you live in Australia and what you want out of it. I wish I had known to look into different offices in Australia instead of asking to transfer to the only one I'd heard about.
Don’t touch Vegemite if you aren’t ready and learning bit about cricket or horse racing/bidding will help to make friends easier. 6pm is the off time, chill & back home but not bothering others trying to be hardworking smart ass
