US peeps, what are you doing for thanksgiving?
Hello All, I have one question. I was a fresher and joined one organization as external employee with third party payroll. I worked as external payroll for 1 year then I became permanent employee of organization was working. When i was a fresher my salary was below tax slab so my external exployer did not generate any form 16 for me. When tried to switch my new organization wants me to submit form 16 as BGC process. Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

I remember at our first big allstaff about AI, the senior leadership team simply introduced the guest speaker (who would proceed to ramble incoherently at us for an hour, with content that clearly no one had vetted) before skipping the whole presentation to sequester themselves in the glass partitioned main boardroom, in full view of the whole company, where they devoured a massive sushi boat. Felt a bit like Rome burning.

Yes, and apart from the odd performative high-level town hall about AI, they invest zero in meaningfully training their staff on what tools are out there that they legally allow us to use, the parameters for how we can use them, etc.
Legal counsel’s expensive? Wait until they get sued. But I’m sure to cover the penalties they’d just lay a bunch of people off. So any which way, the worker bees lose.
