I think we all go thru that! You just have to learning to be comfortable at high speeds. So may be try to ski faster on a blue slope you are already comfortable on. There is no substitute for practice here, once you get used to it, it will be natural. Just remember how you transitioned from bunny slopes to where you are now!
you can’t really think about how steep the trail is because you technique shouldn’t change. Just make wider S turns on a steeper trail and you will be down in no time
A few drinks usually does the trick.
I’m hammering away here - one instructor told me to make up a mantra when I encountered scary stuff. So for a while when I was scared of ice, anytime I hit icy patches, I would repeat “glide and trust your skis”. That plus a ton of practice helped me get over the fears that were holding me back
Because of this fear when I get into anything that feels too scary. I’ve taken lessons, which has helped, but curious what tips (if any) this community has to progress in this situation. TIA :)
I was in your shoes about speed - practice, and more practice - once you’ve seen a variety of terrain - it helps confidence. What do you ski on / do you have your own boots? Eliminating those variables may also help boost your confidence
I watch elate ski school media on YouTube for pointers as well
I do have my own boots and skis which is good. I’ve been skiing a ton this season, so getting somewhat better, but I’m a perfectionist and have a hard time pushing myself on the steeps if I know my technique isn’t totally there! 😬
