It’s so big, people have different experiences with RGA. Some people love it thanks to the group they’re in, but what I hear the most is that it’s cold and impersonal.
Having been in agency after agency that enforces a culture of mandatory fun, cold and impersonal sounds downright welcome.
It’s a mixed bag for sure. But it is possible to have a life outside of work.
All depends on the group you're in and it takes time to move around. So when you interview just make sure you really like the group ahead of time.
We have 5 groups within the agency. Each group services a number of different clients. Each client has its own team members (production, client services, etc). Each group definitely has its own culture and one needs to find the right fit to maximize you career there. There are a lot of people working here and a lot of office space - but I have never found it cold or impersonal. Believe me, there way more to R/GA than Nike and Samsung.
@rga1 what do you think the top 2 or 3 groups to work with are?
Be prepared to give up your outside life
What account/group? Depends on the team.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by different groups? I know there’s some power accounts like Samsung and Nike, but what’s the full list to consider? And what’s the culture within each group?
RGA is so big it’s divided into groups with around 115 people (Dunbar’s number) to keep teams feeling close knit. Some service one account (Samsung) and others have many smaller accounts. Be very careful about what account the group has and stay away from Samsung and Verizon unless you want to work 70hrs plus on the reg.
