I’ve been thinking about getting into real estate investing. Not right now but later down the road. I’ve been trying to save up for a down payment. What are some good resources for a beginner? Blogs, YouTube, books etc I’m not looking for paid courses because I will be learning at a slow pace. Any help will be appreciated.

For any of you real estate investors, what tools or sources did you learn from when getting started. Can’t find a mentor currently so want to find some highly recommended books or videos. If focused on the tri-state area (NY, NJ, Long Island mainly) that would be even better. My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Trying to understand all the steps, traps, and how to find if it’s a good investment.

What do you all think of fundrise and start engine Real estate Reit ? Any experience? Would you invest here if you didn’t have the time to actually buy and rent properties? Any insight is welcome.

USI folks - Do you know if the Sum assured of the health insurance offered by Deloitte is for per year or total. Context, I am currently at Deloitte US and thinking of requesting a USI transfer because of a serious health issue for one of my parents. Would be really thankful if someone can clarify 1)Will parents existing conditions/treatment (Chemotherapy ) be covered from my day of joining and 2) Will sum assured will reset every year (if yes, then when, January or our FY). If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)

The client I have been assigned to has many of our products, however, the specific project I have been assigned to is a problem child and has damaged the companies relationship with the client.
