Hi everyone! I have a few questions on submitting the visa appointment fee expense for reimbursement in DTE: Can we submit an expense for our spouse’s visa appointment (they’re on H4)? I am from India and in order to pay the visa fee I used the NEFT option to pay but the Indian bank account my brother’s. What receipt will be accepted in DTE? I don’t think there’s any receipt that we received. It was just my brother initiated the transfer from his Deloitte" class="linkified" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >account.Deloitte

Moved from big 4 in toronto to another big 4 in nyc as a manager this year. Very easy process, went with tn visa and crossed the border. I’ve essentially doubled my pay for the same job and I work less than I did in Toronto and I did m&a advisory. I was expecting to work way more in NYC, but it was the exact opposite. I’m loving it!
Went from 100k cad homegrown manager to 180k USD plus signing and I work like 10-20% less. Toronto was a grind.
I did not transfer within the same firm. I completely switched to a different big 4 in new york city and the market rate for managers at big 4 in nyc is much higher than toronto. Started out of university at big 4 at 65k, spent 5 years at the same big 4 until i was early promoted to manager which brought me to about 100k base. Networked with partners and managers at big 4 in new york city as well as other firms in nyc and the offers came in at 150-160k USD. The team liked me, did some negotiation and added signing bonus and got it up to 180k USD. The compensation in the US is just so much better. I had some industry offers too in seattle and nyc for around 130-140k usd + stock + bonus which were pretty good as well after vesting.
You can just apply if you can do TN. In every way, working in US is better than in Canada. Pay is not comparable, expecting 50%+ increase in the states. It is also a lie that wbl in Toronto is better than in tier 1 US cities.
I was 4-5yrs in, you just have find a partner on the other side to sponsor you, firm offered L1and TN to me.
I cancelled the move due to covid but it's a pretty smooth process.
Really good to know

Yeah I was about to do it but then cancelled my move too. I see why people would want to do that - higher compensation but the wlb (especially if you’re staying in consulting) is horrible in the US and weather aside - Toronto > a lot of US cities

Do folks live in border towns and manage to work in US with salary in USD while living in Canada ?
Thanks!
