Are there any recruiters (mid-level litigation) worth working with if I'm not T14/top of class but otherwise have BL experience? Seriously seems like all the recruiters I've tried working with barely put in any effort and have not gotten me anywhere.

I was top 9% at a top 75 school and a recruiter placed me in my first biglaw and second biglaw jobs. I've also had some who wouldn't give me the time of day at all. I think it's just dependent on whether the recruiter has any ability to be strategic or just needs a sure thing.

Which recruiter did you use? Feel free to dm if you prefer

You really don’t need a recruiter. You are better off networking. Or applying on their website if you see an opening. Resume—-experience, journals and schools are still the keys to the kingdom.

I'm the hiring mgr for designers in my org. I recently discovered pay band information given to me by the HR generalist I'm working with on hiring was outdated and updated bands had been released over the summer (prior to my hire date). The outdated information had led me to believe a prime candidate was out of range. Aside from incompetence, can anyone think of a reason why HR might have withheld information about the pay bands? I assume mgrs see the full monty when it comes to pay...right?

I left Audit at a midsize firm to join KPMG erp implementation consulting about 6 months ago. So far they seem to only want to staff me on projects with a heavy focus on technical accounting and audit. Spoke to a lot of others who have left and seems like being pigeonholed or staffed on projects not related to the actual core work of the practice is the common reason. I've been on the fence about whether I should stay and hope to be staffed on better projects in the future or leave soon...

So something crazy happened to me last week. I was at the airport, and as usual on call after call. The check in line was going ridiculously slowly and at some point turned threw my hands up in frustration while looking around to find another place to check in. In doing so, I catch the eye of the behind me. He smiles and says something. I just sort of nod and carry on with my call. After that, he keeps trying to talk to me, eventually I got to the check, say bye and leave. At security… tbc
