If you are leaving your firm and putting in your two weeks notice, what should be on your checklist to make sure your transition is the smoothest, both for you and for the firm you’re leaving?

Depends on the law you’re practicing. I had summaries of all cases, personal evaluations on files (files to keep, file lawsuits, monitor, and cases to reject with reasoning behind all of it). Left a hard copy and emailed an electric version to the managing attorneys/ supervising attorneys on the file. I also noted the files with a summary page including: facts, legal theories, and if in suit what phase and what was done along with next steps.

Also for you, if you made a running document of pleadings, how to process a case from inception to the end of the case, notes on appearances, how to handle CPLR issues, bring any and all documents you personally made with you.

A CRO offerred me an internal consulting/biz dev role. They offered 145k TC (20% bump) and slightly better benefits. They also offered accelerated path (6mo to 1yr) to MC. While promotion to MC at my current company is at least 1 year away. The job is interesting to me and fits my careery goal. But my big concern is that I've only been with my current company for a year (this is my first job, post PhD). Would this affect my resume in the future in terms of being viewed as "job hopping"?

Anyone hiring those who have been out of work for a year? I took time off to tend to personal matters, but I am now looking to get back into the workforce again. My previous experience includes time at B4 audit up to senior level and then transitioned to manager in industry. Senior/manager roles are preferred.

I don’t mind audit. However, I’d prefer it not to be at a B4, as I am looking for some semblance of a work life balance.

DM me if you have something above, thanks.

How does one most effectively make the transition into management from an Individual Contributor?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I'd appreciate any success stories or pointers you can offer in regards to this transition.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

After 4 years in consulting I think I’ve lost most of the hard skills that made me employable when I first graduated. I know if I stay they’ll continue to diminish so I’m stuck in a hole of buzzword project shithousery. How can I go about fixing this?
