As if my firm has just decided to roll out pop-ups that block your screen from doing anything until you close any missing time from the PREVIOUS DAY. So OTT

I’d pitch a fit. Imagine working til 3 am, getting up at 6 am because you have a Zoom meeting with a client at 7 am, and then you can’t even log in to attend your meeting because you haven’t closed the previous day’s time yet.

Idk about you, but if I’ve had a particularly busy day, it can take me 30-45 minutes to close my time.

like

Right?! I am not going to stay up super late which happens all the time and then do 30 mins of time recording instead of sleeping. Such a joke

like

How are you supposed to close your time without looking at like yesterday’s emails and documents to help decipher what you did??

Good question!!! From memory as punishment for not doing it that day

Haha more evidence that lawyers need management training. This is efficient for nobody

My firm uses pop-ups like that. Try finding the app running the pop-up in task manager and force quit. If you are lucky, it’ll leave you alone until next startup. Your IT guys might be smarter than mine though…

Is it just me or do people drive like maniacs in the Denver metro? Constant tailgating no matter what the speed limit or if there’s traffic or construction. I’m appalled by how dangerous some people here drive. Relax, getting there a few seconds faster isn’t worth anyone’s life. Aren’t y’all supposed to be too high to be driving like this anyway?

I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.

I find myself questioning basic politeness I’ve learned since a child. Wondering what everyone else thinks. I work with an associate. She’s great. When she does good work or something I’ve asked her to do, I, of course, say “thank you!” I don’t really expect a response. She always replies “you’re welcome!” Or some variation. And for some reason, that’s awkward. Is it just me? I know in normal manners, that is the right response. Why does it sit funny?
