Yeah this is not standard, you need to update your resume and start making moves to gtfo
I guess my phone listed while this happened to me yesterday and showed me your comment. In my 10 years of practice, I have seen a lot. No, it is not part of the profession, but definitely happens in many places. Those places, I run from. Not worth my energy. I gladly have also found workplaces with great supervisors, willing to help you and thrive as a team. From that, I've learned not to settle, there is always something better. Nobody deserves to be the punching bag. I am moving on now after yesterday. If you can't talk like a civilized person, what else can you expect?
Both are losers get out of there

This happened to me as a junior. I left for a better firm. You don’t deserve this treatment and you should start looking to lateral.
You know all the attorneys acting like this don't happen. It most certainly does and partners and managing partners tolerate it. I'm speaking from Plaintiff side. It's not until someone threatens an EEOC claim that anything is done about it. I've known attorneys go after each in a deposition having to get a federal judge or magistrate on the line to stop the interference. It's always been allowed especially a producing attorney is allowed to get away with keeping a hostile work environment and partners do absolutely nothing to stop it. So don't get on your high horse and tell me you never heard such a thing. It's bull. Why is there such a big turnover at some firms and not others? Environment.
Not normal today. Happens more at small shops. Used to be normal everywhere 20+ years ago.
Get out of there!
20 years ago I worked in litigation at a big firm for a partner who used to fight with his secretary, he would say something to her, she would yell back at him, he would throw a binder at her, etc. it was toxic. I felt so uncomfortable but had to stay out of it & quiet because I didn’t want to get that kind of treatment.
Welcome. On some days it can be like that. We work in an emotional business. People's lives and money are on the line. Just don't take it personal until it gets personal. But don't tolerate it either.
