Be honest… have you ever considered leaving healthcare but stayed because it felt safer than starting over? That comfort vs growth battle is real. What made you stay or go?

Sure, I think about leaving the healthcare field almost daily. But you’re right, the fear of starting over does scare me. Plus, healthcare is like one of the only industries that’s actually hiring so this is probably a bad time to jump ship.

True! I’ve always heard that there will always be a demand for healthcare workers, so it feels like one of the safest fields, but the burn out hits so hard sometimes 😅

That's a good question. I think about leaving the field at times, but I haven't come up with a way to pivot to something I think I'd like better. And this job market isn't the time to play around with that, so for the time being I'm in healthcare. Perhaps in a few years I'll move on to something else.

Yep, I think just sticking to where we’re at right now is the safest bet.

I did think about leaving as well but then I realize that I have no experience doing anything else other than healthcare and other areas would maybe need additional training that I might not even excel at. So ultimately I did stay

I totally get that, it’s almost like a reality check when you’re contemplating leaving the field and then realize it’s all you’ve done & have no experience anywhere else.

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I’m devastated because he’s never expressed anything like this in the 8 years. He’s been super supportive and loving, even when we were in a long distance relationship. He supported my career and dreams and this just doesn’t make sense. We have gotten a counselor but things aren’t getting better. Comment>

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

I am a clinical research coordinator working in Austin, Texas. I have my Masters in Cell & Molecular Biology and have a year of laboratory research experience.

I’ve been in my position for 5 months now. I make $27 hourly which amounts to about $51,000 yearly. Am I being under paid? Are all coordinator positions hourly? As a laboratory researcher I was salary :(

How do I go about asking for a raise or should I explore other companies or medical schools that have clinical research?
