Can anyone explain meal & rest breaks for California non-exempt and exempt?

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone have suggestions on what to do tax/paycheck-wise if you know a big, one time bonus is coming?

Saw this and thought it was a pretty good explanation for company culture: Culture is not what you write down. It's what people tell their friends who ask what it's like to work there. It's what people compare to when they get pings from recruiters. It's how people feel when they log on and off for the day.

I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

Hostile work environment? 15 yes of HR experience- been w/current employer 1 year. Relationship w/manager is push & pull. The situation is stressful to the point it’s triggering health issues. Out of the blue today, my manager sends me an email titled “Accommodation Follow-Up”. Last week I wasn’t feeling well & took a 1 sick day to go to ER. There has been NO discussion for accommodations, nor any request made. But the email mentioned “pre-existing condition” and felt very intentional.

If you received multiple offers, and one of the companies went out of their way to get you the best pay + increased stocks, but you still decide to reject them, what's the nicest way to do so without burning bridges? Would love to hear your experiences

Finishing 90 days in new role and I am doing really, really well. The only thing is that I get the vibe that people in management and my peers feel that I’m arrogant. I take feedback well or so I think. I ask questions when I don’t know things and I admit and own things when I’m wrong. The only thing is that I tend to like to work on my own and it’s because I have an introverted personality, I think. Am I fucking up? Is it envy? Or am I arrogant?

Did you ever lose all hope in trying to spark happiness in this career but then did something pivotal that helped you achieve it? What did you do? I am riding on my last nerve. Please help a struggling HR out.

I’ve been given a project to create a database that houses everything for our talent acquisition department including tips, best practices, processes, etc. I’ve been given free reign on creating the entire thing from scratch but I’m running out of ideas! Does anyone have any advice on what I should include? This will be going live next year and will be the main source of information for everyone in the company for anything TA related. Would love some help!!!

I’m a new AE at a start up that was founded in 2018. I just started last week. Our ICP is retail and e-commerce brands. (Those who typically have an OMS and ship products to their customers)

The product is essentially an AI chatbot that can handle many customer requests- without the need of a live agent. (Think 20% of tickets will be automatically resolved- saving a company tons of time and money)

Opinions on where y’all think retail / e-commerce brands will be in the next 1-2 years?

Inflation costs are killing my pipeline. Many of my deals are scaling back greatly because of their rising operating costs.

How do we overcome the inflation objection? I mean obviously the answer is to show how much value we offer, but how do we do that when all of the companies we work with barely have enough funding?

They need our services, which is at least some job security, but their scale back is greatly affecting our projections and quota attainment.

I am going to move in the next few month to a location with a higher cost of living due to personal circumstances. I love my current company but I’ve only been here a little over a month, how should I go about requesting if it’s possible to get a salary increase? Might be a stretch but thought it might be worth mentioning.

Looking to get into SaaS sales but my experience is in construction and fine furniture (I was a sales manager and was able to lead my team of 4 people to consistently hit 450k monthly targets). I did that for almost 2 years before making the switch. I miss sales, though. Does anyone have any connections to companies looking? I have also considered a sales analyst role considering that I am moderately versed in Salesforce and have worked both the customer facing and sales generating side. TIA!

Mid Market AE = true mid market AE/super high up AE??
