Been lawyering for five years now, with only one-two week vacation that I took over two years ago. I’m married, husband is also in legal. Work has been pretty much all I do (no hobbies). Need to get away from all of it for a week or two to reset because of extreme burnout. Anyone travel alone for a week or more and any suggestions on where to go to decompress solo? Not looking for trips that involve a lot of socializing or sightseeing. Just peace.

Still WFH? What are other chambers doing for task management? Our chambers has been keeping up with assignments, incoming emails needing judge’s eyes, and written orders, all through Microsoft Planner. We share PDFs through Sharepoint folders. Although we still email draft orders back and forth, the system seems to work well enough. We still aren’t operating at our previous capacity because it takes 10x the number of steps to get a motion heard or an order entered—90% of our workload.

5 years post-MBA and all my classmates are VPs in industry or Principals in consulting/IB (some are even Partners/MDs already). I sat in the same classes with these folks for 2 years — probably outperformed some of them academically. Yet, here I am continuing to struggle with my student debt payments, hoping that “Uncle Joe” forgives 20% of it. I’ll never have that kind of earning potential because I didn’t come from the “right background” pre-MBA.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
