The mba is a technocratic stamp of approval. Your classmates sound like soulless conformists. Plus you cant judge yourself by their standards. For some (like me) im just thankful to have a peaceful family life and some income.
Ditto. Some of the lucrative positions in MM PE in my area don’t have the Ivy pipeline, so they ask candidates to have “played competitive sports” as qualifying background. So it’s not that you don’t have the “right background”, it’s just that you are not “one of them”.
That’s my biggest fear. Recently finished the mba at a top 15 and bombed several consulting interview. Just trying to get an entry associate in MC or IB despite a 3.7 gpa and engineering undergrad. Hope you reach your greatest aspirations my friend. Sometimes it’s just a timing thing. At least it’s what I’m telling myself. You got this!!
That’s half the problem right there. Just because you went to a too mba program doesn’t entitle you to do well. I was never the “ideal fit”. I immigrated, have some accent, went to a state school no one knows about and work as an associate at a BB in front office. Network enough regardless of where you went - at least you’ll have a better pool of network professionals based on your school.
