Instead of working more (by taking on a Side Hustle). Get a valuable certification. And switch to a higher paying job. Easiest way to make $20k more.

When I looking for my next job. I'm not asking which pays better. I'm asking which job is the hardest to fill. Then when I've learned that one. I bounce again. Same process. Eventually you'll make really great money.

*Lucille Bluth voice* good for her!

I’m gonna go cry on bumble and pay my student loan the old fashioned way like a sucker

Flipping and scalping is always good. I can’t say I’ve done either of those but it’s a good hustle.

Real estate is also good. All you have to say is “I work in finance” and the average person will gobble up everything you’re saying.

For context I graduated college less than a year ago and said I work at Deloitte and this grown guy who’s a plumber was asking me to go into house flipping business with him because I work in “finance (lol)” and that must make me privy to some insider knowledge to generate money out of thin air.

My opinion on everything finance, property and money related is weighted super heavily because average people look at anything banking/finance related as godhood only fit for geniuses.

Also if your working at a good firm (big 4+) or you graduated UG/Grad school recently you can do career counseling or test prep. I do SAT tutoring and that’s good for a few hundred extra a month for very low effort.

Hey, figured I’ll reply to you here. Upon re reading this I realized I made a mistake. When I say “real estate” I mean realtor. Realtors make money collecting commissions on selling houses. You could go into business for yourself as a realtor and pass the very easy tests, then you build up a small little client base.

People will see that you have a corporate button up career and they will be more likely to go with you as opposed to the pretty girl who’s a community college dropout. When it comes to local real estate agents, being a working professional is a huge step up and realtor is still a “respected” sort of gig that people won’t look down at you for when compared to scalping or only fans or something like that.

I go out and network. There’s a lot of independent consultants out there who could do with high quality, dependable, variable time labor.

You could also look into start ups.

Army Reserves been pretty decent for me. Make about $15k a year for a few days of work a month and 2 weeks of some BS training a year. Plus cheap insurance and an extra retirement check if you make it to 20

Yeah, I have a 1.5 hour drive, but get about $600 or so of take home for a weekend, and I’m the commander and make sure we are keep reasonable hours (because I want to leave just as much if not more than most Soldiers). Plus I get additional pay through the month for having to check my email/sign stuff/“call in” to meetings during the week for an extra $400-$500 a month

Big tech or consulting? Which do you prefer as a career and why? I realize this is really general. I’m interviewing with Accenture and Amazon and the opportunities and career trajectory or so wildly different. This would be my entrance into consulting and concerned that if I wait too long, consulting would be a pay cut without prior consulting experience. It’s already looking like a financially lateral move but high potential. Vs tech is a big jump financially but different career direction.
