Big tech or consulting? Which do you prefer as a career and why? I realize this is really general. I’m interviewing with Accenture and Amazon and the opportunities and career trajectory or so wildly different. This would be my entrance into consulting and concerned that if I wait too long, consulting would be a pay cut without prior consulting experience. It’s already looking like a financially lateral move but high potential. Vs tech is a big jump financially but different career direction.

What does it mean if there’s a NEP at the firm who’s been there for a long time (20+ years), but never got promoted to EP? Never held leadership roles too. Does it usually mean EPs does not like the NEP enough to get promoted?

The NEP has a book of business, though no idea how much it brings in.

Anyone in Corp Dev M&A? Received verbal offer today and it was a total boner killer that sounds non negotiable. Offer came thru random guy in HR vs hiring mgr/director and seriously considering going around hr cause the guy sounded lazy asf.@

Interviewing for a client side role that would be a step down in title and responsibility (recent Manager -> Associate) but a jump in pay. Is this a career growth mistake? Should I try to stick it out in agency life a bit longer?

I’ve noticed that for some of these jobs that I can check every single box in the job description, I won’t even get an interview. I’m wondering if many of these jobs are posted for internal hires, but some stay open for weeks. What gives?
