While I totally understand and agree it’s important to know whether your leadership is narcissistic or not for being able to thrive at workplace, confirming narcissistic tendencies by asking questions is not the way to go. Apart from the reasons covered above by STPM1, you really can’t gauge someone’s narcissistic tendencies by talking to them that too in a short amount of time. These behaviors are exhibited in subtle ways both in words and actions. I’m speaking from experience. Unless you have someone inside the team you trust and know there is no other way. I’m aware of Robert Greene’s work…has he included ways to decipher narcissistic tendencies in his book? I’m curious to find out myself
Thanks for sharing. Big fan of his '48 Laws of Power' book so will give this a read.
better to ask ppl who previously reported to this person
i had such experience and the whole team was very honest if we were asked as we did not want anyone to come to this hell and have mental breakdown without knowing in advance what they r accepting
Agreed! I wish I had done this in my previous positions.
