Blackstone portfolio co VP role paying 400k vs staying in investment banking w/ VP role paying 500k. Which would you take?

The hours would be better (going home at 7/8 and being able to shut off for the night vs. banking going home at 9, having to often work remotely at night). Career progression is questionable after the company is sold / IPO’d in a couple years, definitely a more risky path but may be better positioned down the line for a CFO role, I’m not sure but would presumably be connected to BX platform. Base would be in line with banking base, bonus would be less.

It is a portfolio company, not BX.

like

You should negotiate for more for the BX portfolio co role e.g. higher base as % of total comp and for some form of equity on top to align incentives. Don’t leave a revenue generating track role on Wall Street for some nickel and dime nonsense that tops out at $400K. BX has more money than god. If they want to get a banker to come in and the expectation is you to make a material impact on their returns, I’m confident they can cough up the money. Otherwise they could just hire an accountant or a consultant or something. Strategic hires are not where you’re supposed to be tight on the purse strings. You’re going to be making a lot of people rich if you succeed, why bother if you don’t get to share in the upside?

How are the hours at black stone? Any idea on career progression from there and bonus? Need more background info

It’s a portfolio company position - not blackstone. Correct ?

Roll up strategy or fp&a? Potentially they can put you at another portfolio Co if this one exists or you can leverage to another corporate M&A role?

Vp role paying 500 all-in is a great gig

IB 100% unless BX was actually BX PE role

Been with my current company 5 years now. I run my own team but have a micromanaging boss who likes to create chaos for me.
