How long do you typically allow for self assessments and manager assessments for year-end? This year we gave employees a week and managers 3 weeks (holidays not included), but they still said it wasn’t long enough even though most waited until the very last day to complete them.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. For anyone who’s started at a company fully remote (Covid or otherwise)… when ramping into your new role, what did you do to feel more connected to your team/sales dept? I’m finding that I have questions that I don’t know how or whom to ask, I don’t know who anyone is and my manager can be MIA. This is my first fully remote role and it’s thrown me for a bit of a loop

I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

I started interviewing with a company back in January but they were taking while to make a decision so I put them out of my mind. Fast forward to last week and I found out that I’m newly pregnant. Now, I was offered the job. I don’t know what to do! I hate my current job and this new company seems like a better fit. Do I tell them before I accept the role? This may be a stupid question, but when using an offer as leverage for a pay raise at your current job do you need to have the offer in hand and have gone through all the background checks, etc.? As opposed to just a verbal offer or email? I guess the answer is yes because you should be prepared to leave if they say no.

I’m so confused. I tried to have a conversation with my manager regarding taking on more responsibility and getting a promotion and he basically shot it down and said we all have the same objectives. Just giving you more responsibility does not mean you’re growing more. We all do the same job in the investment process. I’ve never felt more gaslighted or more discouraged after a promotion conversation. Is this a common experience ?
