Not about my “importance” at all. What kind of person in leadership would even fix their mouth to tell someone that?!?
You need to be a suck up to the people on the ratings committee.
4/5 isn’t a bad performance rating. if your boss rated your performance 5/5 it shows that they might not have done enough to continuously challenge your development. It’s great to be recognized for exceeding expectations, but an exceptional supervisor will know that they need to raise the bar
This logic is baffling. In C1s world anyone receiving a 5/5 does so due to poor management?
I must be a terrible manager because I lobbied, successfully, to promote one of my consultants to senior after 1 year. I probably should have challenged him more and not promoted him.
Or maybe he earned it by performing above his level from day 1 and being more competent in his role than every other senior I worked with.
I don’t believe that. I’ve been told for 5 years that there is no specific distribution of rankings. They are two completely separate ratings and she wouldn’t have to get a 4 because she gave you a 5.
I agree. Are they a new manager or do they seem like they have a hard time breaking bad news?
