Its overwhelming the first time and feels wrong, you continue to leave when everything is done and find use for the free time. It does not last long enough to replace the queasy feeling with this new sensation of freedom.

Afterwards and some time for reflection later, one realizes what a magical time it had been. The longing starts to hit and we seek a longer PMO engagement.

Once found and enough time spent, Stockholm gets stronger and stronger: you miss the buzz, the stimulation, the gratification of getting complex shit done, that kick you have not felt since you’ve been in that PMO.

You start looking for another Project you know will get you that kick from working on.

A bit later during reflection you realize that you might need help: you are a workaholic.

You join fishbowl and hope to find solace with your peers.

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. Pivoting away from Sales: I’ve been in sales positions for 15 years, and I’m just exhausted by the role (disputing commissions, arguing about deals, all of it).
