May I know what is the notice period if one resigns in infy during the first 6 months of joining? I am a lateral resource and they hired me in June, but they have no projects related to my tech and want me to take weird roles.. seems they are hiring to increase employee count and cross training most. just looking for options..

Zero impact on your day to day
I don't think anybody of us would notice if we didn't hear about it on the news first. I think most of us would agree that our educational system is not in good shape. Casting the DOE's carcass out to sea may not be "the" solution, but getting rid of a bloated, expensive, and ineffective federal jobs program for bureaucrats seems like a good step to take.
It will slowly affect all of our programs. First, the DOE is eliminated and all interstate data will cease. The DOE has a very similar job as the National Weather Service, to research and provide a forecast. Without the data, states will cease to be able to ascertain which states are doing well and best practices.
We will also lose an agency within government that advocates solely for education based on empirical evidence. It also serves as an administrative framework for managing Title 9 funds and funds directed to school loans, disability services and equity.
When the DOE is eliminated, its closure will have lasting impact as funding, equity compliance, and programs will cease and be less effective without the structure and management in place.
Further, what qualifies as advocacy” for public edu is beyond subjective. Can you give an example of one “advocacy” the dept. of edu champions according to you?
Regarding Title 9, the previous admin provided the best thesis for abolishing the dept of edu (boys in girls sports).
There are a lot of issues with the education system as a whole. I don’t feel like this is going to be the answer to fixing any of those problems, but I’m also remembering how bad things have gotten up to this point.

The sky is not falling. I agree most would not notice if the left’s media machine wasn’t already operating at full throttle. Most general classroom teachers will not see an impact. A greater proportion of govt $$$ will go directly to states by not having to pay the department’s overhead and bloated bureaucracy. Think of it as streamlining and working toward more efficiency, not random program cutting. The Executive Branch cannot cut programs and roles that were approved by Congress, but recent Supreme Court rulings have upheld such reorganizations and downsizing. How many posts have we seen on this site complaining about how districts cut teachers and add admin? This is cutting a lot of admin at the highest level. I predict some red states will increase funding slightly calling it the “USDoE Dividend” but that most states will maintain standard funding and absorb any additional $ into bloated state educational bureaucracies using the justification that their state responsibility increases with the USDoE cuts. Biggest impact I think will be teachers with student loans.
I think the biggest impact on the educational system will be that there will no longer be any oversight or universal norms. If one state wants to rewrite history or bring religion into the schools, they will be able to. Plus, states will set their own standards, so kids all over the country will be learning differently.
NCES1, This is how our country educated our children back when students were more highly educated. For 200 years, communities decided what and how to teach their own children. On the whole, parents care far more about their own children's long-term good than do teachers who see the children in class for only one year, or one semester. Giving the reins back to parents and local communities to make these decisions is entirely the best decision for educating children!
