If we do that, I’d say CGI as well and anything photoshopped too. So many magazine ads with photoshop touch ups of models and too much cgi that makes products seem better than they are.

This should have happened years ago. Would fully support this.
What do you mean—let’s delve into the world of labeling AI-generated ads.
AI-generated ads tend to:
• Be artificially generated
• Simulate intelligence
• Promote a product or service
Some people think AI-generated ads should be labeled.
Bottom line:
Labeling an ad as AI-generated is a controversial topic.
i see what you did there
Should we clearly label all ads done just for award shows?
Cannes do a good job of labelling them by giving them all lions
Define made with AI?
Full gen AI with no original footage?
What if AI is used to generate background elements in the same way as traditional matte painting?
AI lip sync for changes in dialogue?
What if machine learning is used for object removal in conjunction with traditional VFX?
Machine Learning used to do timewarps (slow/fast motion)?
Machine Learning rotoscoping a no go?
What about AI generated textures used for CG?
AI generated depth or normal maps used to assist traditional VFX?
Here's a reality for everyone to think about, You very likely don't know all of the ways AI is being used in post production. In one way shape or form AI is likely being used on 90% of projects with any substantial VFX and a couple of these are things that have been used for years.

Then label all of those cases. What’s the harm?
Is it hard to tell?
Not really. I don’t like AI in ads but feels like the only reason it should be labeled is if it’s directly representing the product. Otherwise I don’t see what why a label would be necessary to protect the viewer.
I’d want to know if a brand is using AI since it’s really just a way to cut corners, so I’d assume they are cutting corners in other parts of their company so I’d like to stay away from their product or service.
If the AI is depicting the actual produce for sale, yes.
I've actually seen an ad that has an AI label on it. it was pretty obvious from the start (no people and only animals as the main characters is a huge tell), but then I saw another that was also clearly AI and there was no label.
We should definitely be labelling ai ads, people have a right to know if what's being depicted is real or not. Our consensus based reality is already breaking, don't need to break it even more.
