I get the feeling of FOMO but it’s really just an illusion. In the long run things are going to even out - one or two years of difference is not going to change much.
I also view it as having a stronger network since my friends have more impact in other areas where I might go to one day.It’s really a win win for them and me.
Plus good team and work is hard to find. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
If you love your job, then I wouldn’t even give it another thought. It’s so hard to find all of those things combined, most of us are here dreaming of that winning combo!
I always true back to what is my purpose and what do I actually want for myself (independent of other people)? I agre, I get it from time to time, but because I do this activity of documenting it, it helps me to remain true to myself and where I want to go. Because maybe to your point if you did get the same opportunity, you may be miserable.
Stay the course, especially if you're happy and have work/life happiness going on. It's not a race to anywhere, so enjoy the path you're on and know that if you want to move, the time will come.
I’ve definitely had similar feelings in the past. I asked myself if I was truly happy with where I was in both my career and personal life. If the answer was yes, I reminded myself that comparing my journey to others wouldn’t bring me any happiness.
I took a promotion three years ago because I wanted to keep up with everyone else growing and now I hate it and wish I stayed in the role I loved.
