The studio knows when you use classpass. Typically it shows on their screen if you’re a member, using one of their class packages, new or coming in via something like classpass.
If they really don’t like classpass they would pull out. It’s not the most money generating for them, but it gets their studio out there.
I’ve done 128 reservations in the past year and while I do think local studios don’t get paid as much, I’ve never had them take it out on me. They’re actually quite understanding & they tell us we get a great deal on classpass 😅
I love rowhouse!! It’s been my cardio substitute and I go once a week. That’s so annoying and I’m sorry they’re doing that to you. They typically ask in the very beginning and once I say I like the classpass style of trying different things they never really bother me again
They use Classpass as a way to get discovered really, they know it ges foot traffic in, even if they're losing a bit of money - and their hope is that eventually you'll convert to paying them directly so it's a long term gain
…but what about when you keep going back weekly, & the staff suggest joining on a membership, & you have to demur because that would cost you way more?
Even while ClassPass is fantastic and has changed my life, their customer service is terrible, and they are probably not suitable for many small enterprises.
Overall, it is excellent. By allowing me to switch up my studios and try new things, it has really helped me keep engaged in working out. But the annoying thing is that they boost the credits when they notice you've been coming to the same venue consistently for a while.
I am aware that classpass substantially reduces the profit margins of the studios, the majority of which are locally owned small businesses. Therefore, I will purchase class packs when they are on sale and maintain my classpass on the lowest credit tier to utilize it for the discounted classes, which are typically classes that wouldn't have sold out in the first place.
Love this approach! The locally owned small business aspect becomes less hypothetical when you see the owner at the front desk, or teaching some of the classes, at the studio that I work out most regularly 🙈
It’s obvious I find value in the community and venue she has created, but it would also be such a steep $ jump to just join that one studio as a full member!
Bet she would see the periodic purchase of class packs as a genuine gesture of support 😁
I've used it for a long time and I adore it. It allows me to have far more variety in my workouts and is more affordable than the top membership alternatives at most studios. I can now truly enjoy working out, which has improved my health.
It's great for my location because classes on ClassPass are less expensive. However, it truly depends on where you live and what your exercise objectives are. Many of my pals, as far as I'm aware, take the fewest credits possible in order to augment gym memberships or other class packages.
