Always have a case! Someone threw mine out by accident when I wrapped them in a napkin!
Ahhhh! Thanks!
Wear them. I thought the same thing and did great at first. Then before I knew it, I left them out for a little longer and a little longer….ended up taking forever with multiple new impressions.
You’re welcome! 😏
The first few days will be a pain. Keep pushing. Also when they are stuck and you can’t get them off, pull them off from inside your teeth, rather than the outside of the teeth near your cheeks.
Thank you!
Do not lose them. Do not drink pumpkin spice lattes in them.
Or turmeric lattes lol believe it or not I had to learn that the hard way
Woooohoooo! Be diligent and mindful about putting the trays back in after meals! Be on top of brushing and flossing before bed. Don’t be self conscious about wearing them in public! You are doing something really good for yourself…congratulations!
Thank you!
Does regular dental insurance cover it?
Been thinking about it but too $$$
CE1, I have 13 trays and wear each for one week. So if I do well and also if I don’t need refinements (additional little movements, generally cosmetic and down to personal preference), I’ll be done before July. ☺️ I expect to have at least a few weeks tacked on just because of what others have said, but a very conservative timeline still has me done with treatment and just doing nighttime retainers before fall.
Use pain medication before they get super sore. I’ve found when it gets too painful, take them out for like a half hour and then put them back in and it usually takes some of the edge off the pain. Oral hygiene is a huge part of it. Chewies will be your best friend as much as you will hate them.
GD1- they’re plastic things that you repeatedly chomp down on after putting in your aligners, and that really gets the aligners into the proper place, esp if you have the attachment nubbins on your teeth like I do. I was told it’s super bad to bite down (without a chewy) to push the trays into place. Most chewies are tube shaped, kind of like a harder straw (softer than a plastic pen, harder than a straw). My ortho gave me some that are as long as pens, but the consumer facing ones are usually around two inches in length.
I did the advanced Propel treatment (doesn’t require the vibrating tool) and I’m on the 6 month plan so I switch out every week.
The first 3 days can be painful to take them off and on in the beginning. Now that I’m further along it’s usually only 1-2 days.
I wear mine 20-22 hours a day. Also, I take them off 5 minutes before I’m ready to eat so it isn’t painful to chew on those first 2-3 days. Some weeks won’t hurt at all. Others may require a Tylenol. I switch out at night before bed preferably to give my teeth an uninterrupted 8 hrs in the new trays.
I also take mine out and brush them with a spare toothbrush & toothpaste every morning when I wake up and after every meal.
Oh wow!
It will take longer than you think
My treatment is set at 13 trays for upper and 11 for lower, worn for one week each. So even if I do refinements or have to extend it a bit, I should still be done and just using a retainer by/before fall! 💃🏻💃🏻
Update, starting my 4th out of 13 trays tonight! I can already see some tiny changes! Not significant enough for anyone else to notice, but seems significant to me!
