Corporate at a large Bay Street firm and it’s slower than its ever been right now... anyone else?

Anyone have one of those cushy jobs that isn’t fast paced and actually has some level of work life balance but also pays decently? I’m tired of busting my ass and churning out work, being burnt out, with no end in sight.
I’m ready to switch industries or anything to have things be more relaxed - I just can’t take a pay cut. Any advice or ideas aside from accepting the slow death of being overworked forever?

I’m starting the IVF process and planning to do my first egg retrieval in early June. I’m hoping to do back-to-back retrievals due to my age and hoping to have at least a few healthy embryos before we try our first transfer. How difficult would it be for a well-credentialed US lawyer (approx 7 YOE) to qualify and practice in Toronto? I’m a Canadian (from AB) who went to law school in the US (top 3 school), practiced for 4 years at a strong Wall St firm, and now has been in-house as a corporate generalist for a couple years. I want to move back to Canada permanently, and have just kicked off the NCA process, but will I have any realistic prospects of having a successful legal career, or am I too far along?

What are the bonus thresholds and percentages at your firm?

Watching US salaries increase AGAIN and wondering why Canadian firms don’t have the same pressure to follow these raises. Is it the relatively small number of big firms? Is it that all the big firm managers work together to keep the market in line? Is it the lack of reporting in the Canadian legal press? I feel like we are all getting screwed.

Trying to rid myself of ID work and get into commercial lit at big shop. I’m just about a year in, and so I was wondering if it makes sense to go to a smaller/midsized shop first then see where I’m at in 3-5 years if big law is still a goal.

Firms love to announce their new hires but it is nearly impossible to figure out which firms are losing people in droves during the “great resignation.” Any news? I will start. BLG and litigation. Many big names have left.
