No budget… if it’s bench hiring or “future project” hiring.
If your current CCTC is on the lower side:
Congrats 🎉 you might get CCTC + 50–60% hike — a generous, once-in-a-while miracle.
If your CCTC is already on the higher side:
Relax… they’ll take good care of you with a humble 30–40% hike — just enough to keep your hopes alive, not your expectations.
If you have an offer in hand:
Ah, now you’re suddenly valuable 😌
You get:
👉 Offer in hand + 15–20%
👉 Plus a joining bonus based on how desperately fast you can join
Because nothing says “we value you” like “how soon can you log in?” ⏳
So yes, everything depends on:
- Your CCTC
- Your offer in hand
- And most importantly… how quickly you can abandon your current company 😄
A beautifully balanced equation of priorities.
PS:
If you’re already on the higher side…
Don’t worry, your hike will be minimal—just enough to remind you of your place in the ecosystem.
If your selection is client-based:
Then the manager already knows the budget, HR knows the budget, everyone knows the budget…
Except you.
And the only way you’ll realize whether it’s a project hire or bench hire?
👉 If you had a client round before selection.
If not… welcome to the surprise package 🎁
And please…
Don’t listen to every Tom, Dick, and Harry here throwing random salary numbers like confetti 🎊
Not all tech stacks pay the same.
Not all roles are equal.
And not all “advice” is… intelligent.
Some of it is just… motivational fiction with numbers. 😏
What is bench period for lateral hired ? I had 2 client rounds and still they put me on bench after joining. Its been 1.5 months already.
