Are any other paralegals struggling with billable hour requirements? I have 5 years of experience in corporate transactions, M&A, and real estate work, and have never had billable hour requirements. I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. For those of you who made the switch to in house/corporate law, what was your experience like? Did you have to take a lower position to gain the experience or were you able to argue that your soft skills were transferable to in house? I’ve been in litigation for 15 years and I’m looking to make the switch. Ultimately, I’d like to get into Legal Ops, but feel getting some in house experience first would be beneficial.

I’m getting messages from recruiters for Sr. Corporate Paralegal roles but all of my experience is in litigation. I have 6 years experience as a paralegal. Should I move forward with this? Not sure if I’m qualified.

(1/2) I started a new job less than a month ago at a large firm with a significant pay increase. I work remotely- which is a special arrangement. They paid for my travel to their headquarters for in-person training. After interacting with my manager and some of the attorneys, I feel like I made a mistake. Manager is demeaning and rude. A bunch of the attorneys dropped not so subtle hints that people who work from home are causing all kinds of problems. I don’t know what to do.
