Currently work at a rating agency as a credit risk analyst, wanna break into fp&a in industry (say a company like J&J or GE or Amazon). Is an MBA required for this, or is networking enough to break in? I have a undergrad degree in finance from a state school if that matters

You don’t need an MBA to do this, its all about positioning your resume and finding a good recruiter or networking internally.

Echoing a lot of what A1 is saying here, don't think an MBA is imperative in this situation. Recruiters who are giving and generous will help you designate your resume and relevant experience for jobs you want.

Manager and above an MBA is probably a 50/50 chance of “soft” requirement.. but depends on firm

Not necessarily. But if you want to get the promotion in the future it's better that you get an MBA. Certifications really are of great advantage especially in asking for a raise or getting a promotion.

How can I be happier at work? I found myself keep comparing me to other colleges and feel I’m not as recognized or taking credits that I suppose to take, and this makes me unhappy and exhausted. FYI I’m competitive in skills and knowledge but not as good in politics and often feel tired to think about it. I also tried to not care about the recognition but then how do I make sure I get to move my path up and forward in the current role?
