Can someone kindly connect me with Investment Banking HR/Recruiter/anyone willing to help? My friend interviewed for Goldman Sachs NY. Cleared the HireVue but didn’t get any communication further. It’s been 4 weeks now. Although the referral came from a VO but the division is different. My friend is looking for Investment Banking division. Need to get in touch with someone from investment banking to push the resume. The rolling process is hurting the chances.Thank you Goldman Sachs

Hey OP, try not to see politics as just negative bs. Humans are political, humans take sides, humans fight. Learn to navigate the waves of office politics. If you become skilled at it, you'll save yourself soooo much heartache in the future. It's an investment. You'll know when/how to avoid politics at times (out of choice, not fear) but also know how to handle it well if you engage. Read How to Win Friends and Influence People.
Thank you for the advice!
Agree with CW1 that politics shouldnt be a dirty word. It just means knowing how to manage up and out and navigate the dynamics of the team really. And most of it is born from having more personal (1:1) relationships with colleagues and clients - at any level. I wasn’t good at it either in my earlier years. If you focus on doing a good job and learning from those that are good at the outward socializing of their good works for the team to get credit, you’ll be fine. As an AAE, AE and AS, I sucked at getting credit and those that didn’t work as hard but were more confident got a lot more recognition. It bothered me and I thought for sure I wouldn’t last in this industry. But after a while, focusing on the team ended up lifting me up. I had people championing and cheering me vs me having to do it for myself. And that goes a loooooong way. And before you know it, you’re a pro at the politics and don’t know how that happened or how to even coach someone in doing it bc it just happens naturally. If you find yourself being competitive and comparing too much, dig deep and see why that is... is it hurting or helping you. And if the former, find other ways to see your own personal value vs validation from others. Easier said than done bc we were all groomed to seek validation and feel insecure when we don’t get it, but start giving it to yourself via seeking it.
This might sound crude (and I don’t mean it to) but whatever you “invest” in people, will always come back to you. I promise. And it may not be direct but in life it will always come back. Those you help one week, who knows who they will be 10 years from now, but they won’t forget your grace and generosity and it will come back to you. I have so many instances where people’s feedback for me counted in my 360 evaluation, on my LinkedIn, as a reco for a role, in my reputation.... and it all probably rooted from me going out of my way to help them at one point. It’s a sacrifice, and you may not reep immediate rewards. But you will get yours... I promise. I promise that the more you focus on lifting others up, you will be lifted up twofold eventually.
