Dear friends, like most of us I work in a matrix environment. Unfortunately, I report into multiple senior leaders at the company, each of whom have a different and conflicting agenda. These leaders don’t see eye to eye. In my position, I can’t really say no to any of them. Lately, it’s becoming unbelievably and unmanageably crazy as everyone is under a lot of preasaure given poor market and economy. Any tips on how to stay grounded in such times?

This is an impossible situation. The only thing it seems you can affect is your perspective. Take time to breath deep. Remind yourself that their failings are not yours and do the best work you can. When you come home and take off your shoes, take off the work stress as well by treating yourself with something small.

Hi!
While you might not be able to say “no” to any of them, what you can do is think about are they all aware of all the workload you have, different agendas and priorities?
Especially if those senior leaders dont see eye to eye they might not even be aware of the full picture and all that you´re responsible for.

I clearly dont know the whole context of the situation but one thing that comes to my mind is to give each of them an overview of all that you´re working on and create suggestions on how you could make it more manageable for yourself while at the same time keeping your performance levels high.
Who could you delegate certain tasks to, for example?

The most important is to keep in mind to take great care of yourself. Yes, the situation might be crazy in today’s market and economy but at the same time, nothing is more important than your overall wellbeing.
