I’m sorry is 4000 people, including myself, not a lot? What the f is the point of this post
you serious, buddy?
When it's you wearing the laid off shoes, doesn't really matter how big the number is. Everyone affected is heading into the holidays in a very difficult and depressing situation. Before this Omicom fiasco, it was already one of the toughest labor markets our industry has seen. Now it's worse.
I hate to say be thankful if you have a job, because in a twisted way that's exactly what the holding companies want us to feel like. As if we're an annoying superfluous cost, and we're lucky they keep any of us around at all. But truly, those with advertising jobs are fortunate right now. I hope it gets better for everyone, and I think it may get better than it is now, but it very likely will get worse first. And may never return to what we took for granted.
Hang in there everyone and be kind.
Majority must have been US, as there are significant protections on sudden layoffs pretty much everywhere else
@McCann 2, not sure where you are in APAC, but if you’re in SG, there is some level. But I’ve heard McCann are being taken over internally in SG so it must be pretty grim
WTF is wrong with you?

Oh my lord, you know it was a total bloodbath at IPG, right?
Many European countries have stronger worker protection laws than the US does, making it a harder and longer process to have a mass layoff. That would lead me to believe that most of them are concentrated in the US.
You gotta stop taking those brownies.
Dude, for real? It is in fact as alarming as it sounds.
At least a pretty big handful at my agency. Not sure how it spreads out tho
I’m hearing quite a few in Canada.
Touch some grass and read some news.
Some people don’t follow ad news so closely and are out of the loop. No need to be so rude and mean to them just cause they don’t know.
Dentsu has been having layoffs all year round!
For those of us on the outside we don’t know what actually was said to workers at FCB an ddb. How many were actually laid off in Chicago? If they are both being absorbed then surely some still have their jobs? Where are the agencies going? Staying in the same real estate under a diff name?
