I had a interview with the partner where in the last few minutes he mentioned they are taking their time with the process and a final decision might be made a month or two from now so I shouldn’t be discouraged if I don’t hear back for some time. I first submitted an application a month ago. What could this be about?EY

I have an offer of 18.5 lpa including bonus.
At the time of HR discussion, I was under the impression that this will be 18.5 fixed + bonus
I already have 19.5 fixed CTC offer from Emids and Indegene is ready to pay 23 lpa including joining Bonus.
I am keen to join JP morgan but I want to negotiate the offered CTC.
During HR discussion, HR said they'll not entertain any counter offers later on

Right after I got pregnant, my firm considered changing its policy to be a week shorter after I had covered 4 parental leaves for other attorneys in the last few years, and if they had done that I would’ve gone to management and asked to have been grandfathered in to the old policy, but it didn’t come to that. I do have a little bargaining power at my firm because I’m good at what I do and too many others have left my practice group, so I was hopeful they’d try to do right by me, but still I know it would have been up to them to make an exception and I wouldn’t have had any real power to make them do anything if they didn’t want to.
What state are you in? I'm in CA and at-will, so I'd be reluctant to push back.

Sorry, wasn’t my intention to write that response with an attitude. Just musing out loud guess I guess.
If I was already pregnant when they changed it I’d ask to be grandfathered in. Even if I wasn’t I would probably ask too if it wasn’t too long ago it had been changed, and there was a big discrepancy.
