Just get in good with SMs and PPMDs and they will take care of you. I have switched projects and moved across the country as PDM because I wanted to live somewhere else. My leadership on my old project helped staff me on my new one plus I got a bonus to help me move. Another PDM I know had her role ending and they worked very hard to staff her again and they did.
Was this just a poor choice of words or do they not see/want us as long term? Do people on PDM actually get re-deployed on new projects when their’s end? That call really has me feeling like a second/third class citizen here
Still on my first project as a Project Delivery Specialist. Following as I too am curious.
Yes, it’s true! Both USDC and PDM tracks can be compared to contractor jobs. Salaries are low and so are the benefits(pto, maternity/paternity)
For PDM you are hired for a project, once the project is over the bench is 2 weeks.. find a project or leave.
If you have a needed skill, then it’s not that hard to get restaffed, but the part about having only 2 weeks in between is the worst. Lots of pressure there.
USDC isn’t as bad as D2 suggests and it allows for bench time plus more work/life balance.
Yes I have seen this a lot. Connect with someone in consulting who has long project durations and speak to them to onboard you for their next project next month. It’s quite easy. Their skills will match and you are low cost to them compare to other talent model except USI
