I had a mentor but it wasn't assigned, like in a formal mentorship program or anything. Someone where I worked seemed to know what they were doing, and I followed their example. Over time they gave me a lot of pointers, so it amounted to some pretty valuable coaching. But again, it wasn't a formal program, it was just dealing with the practicalities of the work. I feel fortunate to have had the experience.
Yes I have a mentor and have always had one since I started here. It wasn't someone who was assigned to me. I have actually always sought someone out at every job I have had.

I have one and I am one. They just happened naturally.

Do you think that mentorships should happen more organically versus forcing it? Or is there value in both scenarios?
