I want to say it doesn’t matter, but I think in this world it does. Makeup offers a more polished, eye-catching look. I think that’s a benefit to you and I wouldn’t miss the opportunity.
Honestly how I was leaning. I’d love for it to not matter but it might
It takes me less than 10 mins everyday to put on some concealer, bronzer, blush, brow gel, and mascara.
I’ve noticed that the better I take care of myself (by looking more put together), the more respect others seem to have for me. I don’t think the system should work that way but unfortunately it does.
I don’t regularly wear makeup to work other than lip gloss. I take good care of my skin and still look put together with/without makeup. You don’t have to wear makeup to look presentable.
I wfh but have stopped putting on any makeup for video calls. I used to do some concealer and eyebrows and mascara but meh. I have also learned that I look much better on Zoom than on Teams 🙃
Teams is better than Google meetings. A 3rd party sent me a Google link and the horror that washed upon me. It caught every truth about me and seemingly even made some of its own truths. After seeing myself in the waiting room I claimed a faulty camera once admitted to the meeting.
I'm over 100% utilized. If I look like a corpse, that's not on me.
100000% I refuse to worry about this when I’m billing 2400 and the men in my office don’t have to waste valuable free time/sleep/mental energy thinking about it.
Mascara on a good day, concealer if necessary
Rising Star
I do, but plenty of the women I work with and respect (including the older women who are my mentors) don’t.
Never have and never will. I don't believe it has ever mattered, in my experience.
Usually just mascara and lip gloss if I am running late.
Good skincare will go a loooong way. But also so much of that is up to genetics that it’s really just for you to decide what you’re comfortable and confident with. I just do mascara most days, some days literally nothing but moisturizer. If I’m really feeling fancy I will do a neutral eyeshadow to be extra polished, but that’s it.
But I also am not in big law bc I don’t do office politics/games about that kind of thing, and my firm doesn’t care one way or another as long as I’m presentable and competent for the clients and court, so maybe my opinion doesn’t hold much weight for this 🤷🏽♀️
Look at the other women in your office, especially those at your level or above. I wear makeup daily in Northern Virginia but I’d say half of the women in my office don’t wear makeup at all. I’m definitely slowly paring it down over time, though. I feel like makeup is not very important in east coast/mid-atlantic culture.
If you’re looking to pare down, go for tinted moisturizer, mascara, and lip gloss. You should definitely wear sunscreen daily so may as well wear tinted sunscreen/moisturizer. Mascara makes a big impact, one coat on top lashes is easy. Then a swipe of lip gloss or tinted balm because your lips are probably dry anyway.
I wear very little, and do nothing if I am wfh, but can’t get myself to do zero makeup in the office. I am so particular about taking off my makeup, I feel like my biggest time saver is not having to remove it vs having a super quick minimal makeup routine down.
I rarely wear makeup, and it is minimal if I have the energy. For me, the time is better spent taming my hair. No amount of makeup can override how I look with disheveled hair.
The older I get the less I wear. Currently I just do a CC cream with sunscreen, smudge on an eyeshadow stick, and mascara. Those eyeshadow sticks are my jam now lol
To work? Yes. On a zoom? Hell no, those filters are badass.
I just wear tinted sunscreen, under eye concealer & mascara most days. I just can’t justify waking up extra early to get ready (unless I have an important meeting that day). I’m in-house though & our office is very casual.
I wear mascara everyday. Some days I wear under eye concealer. I will wear a full face of makeup for a presentation or big mediation but for the most part I wear very little makeup and my skin prefers it that way.
I wear makeup maybe 2% of the time. But my skin is pretty good so that helps
Drunk elephant bronzing drops in my moisturizer, vaseline stick in the brows with a quick brush, mascara and lip gloss. Looks better than when I actually try to do my makeup and it’s over done.
A CC cream or tinted moisturizer, a little blush and masacara go a long way!
