Do you think the mode of job application effects the result of interview?

Do BCG or McKinsey send out an email letting you know you’ve been referred? Or do they just wait to contact you if you’ve been selected for an interview?

Interviewed with a remote-first company and was repeatedly asked if I'd be open to relocation (yes) even though they said no one really uses their offices. One person mentioned they prefer new folks to move to be closer to offices/sites. The salary range is fine for where i currently live and would work remote, but way lower than I'd expect if I moved somewhere with MUCH higher cost of living. Would it be possible to negotiate relocation assistance and higher salary if they "prefer" I relocate?

I also want to teach college level online but have a hard time either finding a position available or applying. Quess Corp. had scheduled some interviews for me with MasterCard which I've already cleared. Quess people are saying I'll be under Quess payroll but will actually be working for MasterCard as client and after 6 months MasterCard might take me on their payroll by evaluating my performance.

3. 1+ year plan is to take the GMAT & apply to ivy league mba program. Planning to break into IB and then PE later.
4. Got approach recently by a recruiter from Houlihan Lokey (HL) for an associate position in the Midwest. Comp range 120k -130k. I make about 100k now.

The HR told me something along the lines of "who do you think you are, people with such low incomes shouldn't dream so big".

Did I ask for too much? Do I not deserve such a hike?
