Does anyone have any tips on letting someone go? It's such a difficult thing to do the right way, so all tips are welcome!

Coordinate with HR to make sure you are doing everything by policy. From there, focus on the facts and what will come next for that person. Don’t sugarcoat it, but don’t act like it’s up for negotiation either. Definitely difficult, and I do not love it when it gets to that point.

100% work with HR, but hopefully they’ve already been in a PIP and understand this is probably coming

I see quite a few positions hiring APM pretty far from now, for example for Sep 2023. Is that a normal practice? (Not an APM program or anything, just APM or PM position).
I would like to apply to one of those but I feel like it’s a bit strange to get an offer that is a year from now…
