Support in other ways as an ally. Donate to bails of jailed protestors, donate to orgs on the ground, continue to discuss these events with other white people.

Call your senator. Vote in local elections.
There are several ways to show your support.

Please don't elaborate.

In the same situation. It’s truly not worth burning down your own house metaphorically. Or literally killing your own family. Anyways, IMO it’s much more worth doing other things to support like being active on social media to bring awareness to the insane actions of police or focusing your time on political solutions for criminal justice reform. Even donating helps.
Do what you can while keeping your family safe. Donate to causes related to the protests, read books, educate yourself or anyone else that you know about the history of racism and oppression. There are many ways to help out, just decide what that looks like for you and do your best at it. I hope this helps.

You have a responsibility to the people you live with. Have you asked them if they are comfortable with you risking that? If you’re hesitant to ask, I think you have your answer.
Stay home. This shouldn’t be a judgment call...

If you're uncomfortable protesting, please consider donating some of your stimulus check money to your city's bail fund or the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
I don’t even have immunocompromised family. I just have crowd anxiety (can’t handle protests or musical festivals or any big gathering) so instead I donate, sign petitions, and buy from black-owned businesses. We can’t all do ALL of the anti-racist things but we can all still do our part.
The best thing to do as an ally is to cultivate understanding among white people that we indeed have white privilege. Stay off the streets and do something that only about 10% of US population can. Each of us in FB are part of the system.
Anyway, that is what I do. You will find that this is much harder than protesting. It is a mindset and a cause.

Did I write this? Lol, same exact scenario. I really want to go but I’m afraid to bring covid back to my elderly parents who just tested negative for antibodies. I am trying to convince myself that I don’t need to be there and can do my part from home. I just feel like going to protests feels so much more tangible.

I’m black and staying home for this reason too. No need to even feel conflicted for this reason. There are other ways to support.

I'm not even torn. All I can think of is medical workers who just took a breather, and two weeks from now they will be having all over through the same cycle again.
So accurate. This comment right here just fully affirmed my decision. Thank you!

I would advise against going to protests as you may end up risking your loved ones who are immune compromised. I would however ask you to educate people around you to vote in November. And, if anyone you know who harbors racist sentiments educate them without making them feel bad.

Family first.
I support the (peaceful) protests, but it's 2020, and I can't shake the feeling that a mass shooting will occur if this drags out much longer.
Chief
D1 - That is exactly what I am worried about.
