Congratulations! Going on leave is better than underperforming imo
I haven’t personally, but multiple people in my office have done exactly this in the past couple years. I think there’s added protection with the PWFA.
I’m also curious about this. I am due in early January and just asked about staring our (paid) leave on 1/1. I was told paid leave had to start on the birth date. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous because there’s no way I’m billing 40+ hours the week before birth. My last pregnancy I was similar to you and was basically ghosted for all deals and long term projects for my last two months so hitting hours was never going to happen. This time, I’m super close to hitting hours but do not have enough work to bank extra to take vacation.
Yeah I think my firm just doesn’t think thru their policies. I had to even question them on counting bereavement as actual leave for billable hours purposes. The policy just says it doesn’t count against PTO. Lol cool PTO has zero barring on billable requirements.
But I’ve had a relatively uneventful pregnancy thus far, so I’m unsure what would actually qualify me for FMLA.
