What’s the best thing I could buy for my old man’s birthday for about $10k? Would go Rolex (since he knows Rolex) but would prefer new, which limits my options there. Looking for something a little sporty, with a bracelet, and waterproof (100m should suffice). Nothing bombastic like a Panerai, but something a little more exciting than say a Datejust? It’s listed as $8,750 on Omega’s website; Geneva Seal (in Chi where we live) quoted me $8,200 all-in & they’ll cover tax; my jeweler knows a watch broker in NY who quoted me $8,250. I’m not at all familiar with this process so 1) can anyone recommend a better venue for this purchase? 2) are any of the quotes I’ve gotten so far good?
