I do. I enjoy it but if it was the only thing I did I'd be bored. I also administrate estates (trusts and probates), prepare taxes (individual and fiduciary), and handle residential real estate transactions. Thats the stuff I enjoy more. The estate planning feeds those areas in terms of business production so I can't not do estate planning.

I prefer the admins and RE transactions over the planning

For anyone who practices tax lit in the US Tax Court, what’s your experience with the independent office of appeals? They don’t seem quite that “independent” to me and so far, I’ve only had one appeals officer who seemed knowledgeable and nice. It’s been a real headache. Interested to hear other people’s experience.

When the IRS (e.g., a RO/AO/Examiner) calls or writes a letter… How do you verify that it’s really the IRS and not a scam? I’m new to tax law and I’m worried that I’m going to respond to/answer a scam and give away client info (or my own tax preparer info). I don’t think my worry is unfounded due to the tremendous amount of tax/IRS scam out there but it would be nice to hear from some of y’all so that I’m not so worried about it…
