It has been 2+ weeks since I completed the Interview & Psychometric Assessment rounds with Macquarie Group , but yet to hear anything from them. I also followed up with HR but with no response. For the record, the interview went well. Any idea if they usually take this amount of time to get back? If I got rejected, why not communicate directly?

This is going to be very difficult for you, not going to lie. Same qualifications as you and it took me going to a suburban market I didn’t want, for lower pay than I wanted, after three years of searching to get a law firm to agree to take someone without legal practice experience. Your big4 experience is going be called “unique” but will give you zero leg up. Prepare to be a first year again and work/be treated accordingly.
That being said - now that I’m out of that first legal employer I don’t regret it but boy did I for a while. Not trying to dissuade you, but know that this is going to be a much more difficult transition than you think.
Thanks for your insight. I am definitely comfortable with essentially starting over, knowing that I don’t have the experiences of mid level associates at law firms.
I am confident that I have the capabilities and I know I have the determination. With all of that, what types of projects, etc. did you find helpful in both your job search and/or I’m your new job? As I am looking I want to make sure I am gaining as many helpful experiences as possible.
A lot of alums from my LLM Tax program have started to make the move from big4 to big law. I’ll suggest reaching out to alums or your law school’s career services.
