Bristol Myers technically Hq in nyc but their main office is Princeton
It also has a summit office which is great commute from NYC. Direct train from penn station and then shuttle to office
Regeneron is in Tarrytown NY. Lots of NYC-ers there. The commute to the Princeton area is a bit of a bear but people do it.
I live in NYC and commute to TT by car. It’s pretty awesome if you live in upper Manhattan or Bronx!

NJ has a number of major pharma companies. Makes more sense to live and work in NJ if you want a career in pharma.
Yeah agree was kinda curious if there were any pharma companies in NY besides Pfizer or how people do the commute

Remote and live in NYC

I didn’t know about the NYC office. I only know about the East Hanover in NJ. There Development and Operations role that are fully remote.
I did this for 5 years pre covid and it was madness thinking back. Nj transit is not the most reliable and then in office is very team specific. Add on travel for work and multiple off sites and team buildings, it was just not worth it. A lot of people still do commute from NYC across Merck, Novartis, JnJ, BMS and even Abbie but most have given up on NJ transit and drive to NJ now. I can speak from my experience precovid and in a different season of life, I did commute and it wasn't too bad if you factor in all the time I spent in train and commute, but now with kids and having a taste of what flexibility can offer, I prefer staying in NJ and occasionally visit NYC office for workshops or team meetings.
Yeah I most likely would move to NJ, was just curious on who done it. Yeah the NJ transit is a mess and doesn’t seem to be getting any better. What company has an NYC office?
Don’t know any with a NYC office, but know plenty that live in NYC and commute to our Princeton sites
It is, but with the train and shuttle, it probably makes it a litttttle more bearable
Is it doable if you live in Jersey city?
I think some parts would be doable - e.g., Merck in Rahway, Novartis in East Hanover. Other parts like Basking Ridge could be more of a hike but I think it really depends on how strict your team is. Also you would probably need a car as NJ transit is unreliable
I did the commute from NY to NJ preCOVID for 4 years. Ultimately made the move from NYC to NJ after COVID because I wanted a career in pharma, and moving here considering kids and what I want for my family made sense 10 years down the road.
