10000% (At least for e-commerce brands, not talking big well known companies)
Every time I see an ad that is obviously AI. I go to the comments and a good chunk of them are vowing to never buy or use the product just because of that.
Not to mention how do you know what kind of product you’re getting if you’re just looking at an A.I. version?
It just kind of feels like if you couldn’t put the effort into shooting the actual product how can someone trust whether or not the product is good?

Don't worry about it nobody watches ads

Don't worry they're actively working on sending us all home asap
It’s less about the ethics or snobbery around AI, and more what using AI implies.
They didn’t have the money for ads, are they legit? They didn’t want to show real people using their brand, do customers not exist? They didn’t want to demo the actual product, what are they hiding?
And when we get to the unclockable AI, I’d wager legal disclaimers will be insisted upon that AI imagery was used given it’s arguably misleading. So the problems above remain.
Slightly off-topic but I'm curious how the Supreme Court's decision that you can't copyright generative AI content will affect its use in commercials. Surely that presents a legal nightmare for brands.

Tbh I feel like a lot of people talk a big game about morality spending, but the reality is convenience outweighs that. Some of the loudest anti capitalists I know are massive Amazon spenders. We live in a very performative era.

I think a bad ad is less likely to break through and get people to do whatever it is you want them to do. And you’re going to get a bad ad if you use AI.
Not to say you can’t make bad ads without AI.
Depends on the category and how credible they’re trying to sound. I think if easily identifiable as Ai, customer or expert endorsements won’t ring true. But those are typically ads in categories not targeted to Joe Sixpack. We have used CGI for talking babies and talking animals for years to sell everything from financial platforms to iPhones. I don’t see how Ai is any different.
Yes. Next question.
I think you’re right tbh.
