https://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/mac Better than new, because they're hand inspected in California unlike the ones coming off the factory line in China.
Thanks for sharing ACD1, but $900+ is way out of my price range... looking for something around $200 since I'm severely underpaid.
Chromebooks rule. Lightweight, durable, decent battery life, cheap and does all internet things. The first few weeks feel weird because there aren't any programs apart from the Chrome browser, but honestly once you get yaed to google sheets you never want to go back to Word again!
^yes. You download apps
ACD 1. Do refurbs come with same AppleCare? So if refurb is still flawed, you're covered?
Buy her an iPad Pro and never look back. Best thing I’ve ever done.
My chrome book was $150 4-5 years ago. Still going strong and outlasting the wife's PC and my Mac book pro.
This is very sweet. You're a good son/daughter!
I should mention that since she retired, she began running the local preschool so she needs a laptop that's small/light/portable (11.6") that she'll primarily use to answer emails and type Word docs. She's mostly tech illiterate and isn't a fan of the attachable keyboards for iPads. 😐
*used to google docs
Thanks F1 and D1, super helpful! However, I thought you could download other apps in addition to the Chrome browser on the Chromebook ...or is that not how it works?
Isn't the preschool supplying her with a computer or they are, but she doesn't like it? If you can't afford purchasing what she likes, you may want to invest some time in teaching her how things work on a PC instead. It will also benefit her to learn new things and feel confident and growing, but still in the comfort of her child showing her so she is not embarrassed initially. I spent quite a while on and off over the past 5 years teaching my Mom all sorts of things on a smartphone, starting with buying her one and chucking her flip phone. She's ahead of me now with some of the apps, it's almost annoying, LOL
Thanks SF1 and VP1! AD1 since the preschool is offered through a church, it's all volunteer for her and tuition fees go solely toward teacher salaries + supplies. That being said, they have a super old desktop PC she can use, but it's not very efficient or convenient, especially if she's not actually at the preschool when she's trying to crank out work. I also took her to get her first smart phone / iPhone and give her tutorials almost every time we're together. She's pretty adaptable so I actually think she'll like the look and UX of Chromebook the best. Just wanted to make sure I did my research and got some more reviews from a trusted/savvy/smart community before taking the plunge!
@Freelance1 Exactly the same warrantee as new, 100%. In fact, I think they go out of their way even more for refurbs to preserve their good reputation.
