Cool thanks for the second opinion
Yeah agreed. Fake
Scam. Had a similar thing happen to me as well
What ended up happening? Or did you pick up on the fact that it was a scam in time?
This guy posted a condo for rent on apartments.com a few hundred dollars under market value for the area / quality of the place. When I reached out he send me this after a few odd emails that had already made me skeptical. It stood out to me as a possible scam because the place is way cheaper than it should be and he’s asking for proof I have $1000 in my bank (rent is $1600 monthly for reference) and to sign a pre-lease agreement just for an opportunity to see the place. Also find it odd he explains how he is paying a company to manage all of this for him yet he’s the one replying to all my emails and explaining the process. The phone number on the online listing was out of service as well.
The apartment is actually in Chicago but I have a ton more experience in nyc that has made me skeptical of things like this so I wanted other opinions. I’m convinced it’s a scam but my mom doesn’t agree. I already found another place but want additional opinions to help convince my mom.
Yep
