It’s only worth it if the rent doesn’t wipe you out. The only reason to live here is for the rest of the lifestyle, so if you spend more than ~30% of your take home pay on rent you won’t be able to afford to regularly do things here anyway, so might as well live elsewhere and visit when you want.
Move wherever you want to hang out that’s within your budget. Pros and cons of the WV
In the same camp - moving from London to NYC - why does everyone tell me west village is best?
West village is amazing! So is Chelsea. Highly, highly recommend living downtown instead of uptown. People like WV so much because it’s arguably the most residential / no sky scrapers part of the city, with loads of fun restaurants & bars. But upscale, unlike East village. It is expensive, but there’s definitely places for ~$2k/month with roommates (source: I live in the west village)
Nice! Yeah the studios I’m picking between are 2600-2800 but the area is just so nice that it feels worth it
Worth for what?
Everything depends on how old you are. Literally depending on your age it could be the worst for you or the best
If you re traveling all the time just go to the cheapest neighborhood and uber to wherever you want to hang out
Not really - expensive and mostly commercial now. High rent is driving out all the local business; get something in Chelsea and walk down when you wanna hit the Village.
