We have a CTE director, assistant director, co op coordinator, admin who also handles purchasing and grant money. That’s about it, we run a fairly lean ship admin wise. We are integrated with a comprehensive high school, so the rest of our support staff comes from that, like guidance and vice principals.
I am a CTE teacher and the CTE dept head. I receive no additional $ but have an extra prep. I do all of the grants, ordering, tracking, running dept mtgs, handling issues (too many of those), find curriculum, write curriculum (paid, but not nearly enough). Of course I drop the ball at times, and beat myself up for it, but all in all, I gotta say, I’m pretty good. Hey, if I don’t tell myself I do a good job, I’d better not hold my breath.
Connecticut, sounds like you are both CTE faculty and Administration over there! Your district must be getting a hell of a bargain out of you! God bless you!
I teach at a "Career Center". Our district brings in students from 15 different school. We have 1 principle that handles all student related issues and 1 director that handles all program related issues. Additionally, support staff like counselors, programs/grants, PD & work based coordinator, etc. Each teacher is responsible for their own program development.
